Frumpy to Fabulous Workbook

I had to make this quick review of this what-to-wear outfit calendar. Basically, it’s like a meal plan but for your closet!

I’ve been using this for about a week and I’ve found so many brand new outfits in my closet that I would have never thought to put together before. It doesn’t have to be a perfect match, either—like in this case, it shows a red striped shirt and I have a blue striped shirt.

Honestly, it feels like shopping without spending money! I love it. I definitely recommend getting one of these outfit planners by Frump Fighters.

I’m so pleased with this calendar! I felt like I came to a dead end in my fashion sense, resorting to the same pants and T-shirts when I have so much more I could wear. I printed the list of closet capsule items, went through my own clothes to match them, and that narrowed down the essential items I could choose to shop for to complete my looks. So clear and so helpful. I can't wait to dress up during the holidays this year using this guide!

This is the guide I have been waiting for! I have the Essentials and Athleisure Guide that really helped me build a wardrobe that supports my everyday life. When it came out, I also ordered the Business Guide (even though I am a stay-at-home mom) to get ideas for more dressy outfits, but the outfits in there were a bit too professional for my lifestyle and activities. THIS Special Occasion Style Guide is really what I needed. The guide is extremely thorough, providing great in-depth explanations of how to use it, while still being visually clean in its design. It strikes the perfect balance between comprehensiveness and ease of use. It contains a lot of information that will take me a while to really comprehend, but is so quick to get started using it that I was able to implement it to grab my outfit for a church event tonight without the multiple outfit changes and piles of clothes that are typically all over my closet floor the day of an event. I love that accessories like jewelry and even nail polish are included in the outfit ideas because I usually spend so much time picking my outfit that I forget those finishing touches that really make an outfit pop. Looking stylish while also staying warm in the winter has always been a challenge for me in the past but this guide provides so many great ideas. I know I will be using it to plan outfits for all of the special occasions coming up this holiday season and well into the future!

I already own the Essentials and Business Style Guides, so I was definitely looking forward to another guide that would help me streamline my event wardrobe and make getting dressed for something special more effortless. And it has definitely exceeded my expectations. In the two weeks I've had the Special Occasion Style Guide, I've already used it twice to pull together outfits: one for hosting Thanksgiving, and one for a special worship event. Both times, I could easily pull from pieces I had already purchased for my Essentials and Business capsules. Thanks to the Special Occasion guide, I've identified a few gaps in my wardrobe, decided what items I'd bought for random events are going to stay or go, and feel more confident about pulling together more elevated looks for family functions, parties, gatherings, and even date nights. (Because I am well past the "jeans and a going out top" stage of my life!)
I highly recommend this Guide for anyone who wants to look more polished at special events. I love that it builds on previous capsules, includes a hairstyle inspiration section for both long and short hair, and has an index so you can see what outfits would work for what events (showers, ceremonies, office, etc.)

I highly recommend the Special Occasion Style Collection book. I am a 43 year old married, mother of two kids (8 and 16) and I work as a paid caregiver. I didn’t grow up with a natural flair for fashion and so I’ve really appreciated getting guidance from the Frump Fighters handbooks! With this special occasion handbook, I am feeling grateful with some of the pieces that I already own and inspired to slowly curate outfits for special occasions throughout the year. One of my goals is to go on more dates with my husband and this guide has guidance on creating a color scheme profile that will help me feel more confident in my future date outfits. I also appreciate that the shopping links include various sizes (including plus size and wide width shoes) and styles to suit preferences and reason. Once again, Frump Fighters has helped me feel more prepared and confident in my personal style choices!
